DESCRIPTION:Join us in celebrating Diwali this year right from the comfort of your own home! \nDiwali\, with origins from India\, is a celebration that signifies light overcoming darkness. People all over the world partake in this glorious event by celebrating in a variety of ways\, including the placement of a rangoli (power design made of dyed flour powder and lime/stone) at the entrance of homes to welcome guests or to seek blessings from the gods\, lighting up candles called diyas to signify getting rid of the darkness\, and making special Indian food such as samosas or aloo boondas. \nIn collaboration with Diwali Fest\, we are co-hosting the Diwali Chai House event online on November 21\, 2020 at 4pm. The event features performances by artists from various genres and is free of cost. Visit CoquitlamHeritage.ca/eventslist on event day or follow Coquitlam Heritage on social media to keep up to date.
