SUMMARY:Oktopus: Créature - Evergreen Cultural Centre
DESCRIPTION:Oktopus is a major presence on the Canadian world music scene\, with over 250 performances to its credit at home and abroad. The group is primarily devoted to klezmer distinguished by a novel approach that incorporates various components of the classical and Quebecois repertoire\, with some jazz and Balkan accents. The eight virtuoso musicians offer festive\, high-energy performances\, at once melancholic and profound\, sprinkled with humour and spiced with narrative\, in which original compositions and finely crafted arrangements combine with improvisation. Its members’ complicity\, shared passion\, and hard work are what makes each of their performances so memorable—whether on stage\, in the street\, on a ship\, in a hot air balloon or in your living room\, Oktopus is simply… spectentacular! \n

SUMMARY:Driving Me Crazy - Evergreen Cultural Centre
DESCRIPTION:Driving Me Crazy\, a notable new play by Linda A. Carson and Suzanne Ristic received honourable mention in the 2019 National Theatre B.C. Playwriting competition. It has received several staged readings since (Kay Meek Theatre\, Gibson’s\, Off the Page\, Nanaimo’s Theatre One\, and North Vancouver’s Bodacious reading series) and was met by resounding laughter and applause. \nDriving Me Crazy is about a family and their relationships with each other as experienced through their vehicles.  Inspired by stories from three generations\, Driving Me Crazy\, follows Liz\, a grandmother fighting to keep her driver’s license\, her independence and her voice in society. Liz is surrounded by her family: a son and daughter-in-law who are addicted to their cars\, a granddaughter who is passionate about the environmental fight against oil guzzling vehicles\, and a grandson on his way to learn hard lessons about drinking and driving. Anyone who has driven a car\, been driven in a car\, or been driven mad by their own family will laugh\, cry and gasp. \nPresented by Serendipity Theatre in association with the PHT Creative Hub Live audience at Presentation House Theatre\, North Vancouver\, BC \n

SUMMARY:Crisis On Planet Z! - Evergreen Cultural Centre
DESCRIPTION:Crisis on Planet Z! is an environmental\, science-fiction play for young audiences. Zephyr and their alien species the Alphabetians are celebrating 100 years of being on Planet Z when Zephyr makes a new friend and a horrifying discovery: a fuzzy Ziffle shows them how Alphabetians haven’t been ‘improving’ the planet\, they have been slowly destroying it! Together\, the Ziffle and Zephyr try to warn the Alphabetians\, but it’s too late! The rockets are packed\, and the aliens are ready to blast off to the next planet. Little do they know\, there is no next planet: Planet Z is the very last planet in their solar system! Together\, the Alphabetians must account for their actions\, learn how to pronounce symbiosis\, and find a way to save Planet Z. \nABOUT MONSTER THEATRE \nMonster Theatre creates original plays that challenge preconceptions\, excite imaginations and embody the way of the Monster: strange\, twisted and bizarre on the outside\, but always with a noble heart. Our process puts story first by adapting universal stories to make them relevant for our specific time and place in the world\, or re-imagining history with impeccable research and utter irreverence. \nOur unique brand of theatre applies the philosophy and techniques of improvisation during both the creation process and in performance\, the results are fast-paced\, physical\, loose\, cerebral and often\, but not always\, comedic. Monster Theatre produces work that engages the hearts\, brains and guts of all audiences; comedies that excite intellectuals\, histories that shock teenagers\, and theatre for young audiences that makes adults roll on the floor laughing.\nAll tickets just $10\, pay more if you can!
