DESCRIPTION:The Canadian Piano Quartet is excited to be back this season with an energetic and entertaining programme centred on dance-inspired works. Latin-American music\, such as Lecuona’s Malagueña\, Tangos by Astor Piazzolla as well as Weber’s elegant Invitation to the Dance\, will be just some of the ‘fireworks’ for eight hands and forty fingers not to be missed! \nABOUT THE CANADIAN PIANO QUINTET\nThe Canadian Piano Quartet (CPQ) includes two of the music world’s best known married couple piano duos: Elizabeth and Marcel Bergmann (Duo Bergmann)\, Edward Turgeon and Anne Louise-Turgeon (the Duo Turgeon). Widely regarded as leaders of the multi-piano genre\, the duos have established fine reputations through concerts\, prizes captured at some in the world’s most prestigious duo piano competitions\, recordings\, broadcasts\, creation and premiere of new works as well as judging activities. Over the years\, the duos found themselves meeting up at different festivals in Canada and abroad\, each time enjoying friendship and a chance to celebrate the rich world of chamber music for four to eight hands. In 2018\, the duos decided to take things one step further\, creating the Canadian Piano Quartet. After the success of CPQ’s first concert in White Rock\, British Columbia\, it was decided that CPQ should hit the road! CPQ’s latest seasons includes concerts from coast to coast. The quartets’s repertoire includes works 2-8 hands and draws from a wide range of musical styles from the Baroque to Contemporary and includes many original arrangements. \nABOUT THE BERGMANN DUO\nThe Bergmann Duo’s dynamic and energetic performances of uniquely eclectic programmes\, which include numerous own arrangements and compositions\, have inspired audiences internationally. They have performed in concert and with orchestra worldwide.\nThe duo studied with Arie Vardi at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater\, Hannover and with Jean-Eudes Vaillancourt at the Université de Montréal. These cats deliver their traditional jazz with a modern twist\, and audiences can’t help jumping out of their seats to cut a rug. Sweetpea cooks up a swingin’ jazz beat so clap your hands and stomp your feet!

For the occasion\, we’re unveiling our biggest move in years\, as the Festival shifts from its long-time North Vancouver location to a new home: Town Centre Park at Coquitlam’s Lafarge Lake. \nTown Centre Park is a fabulous multi-use recreational complex boasting Lafarge Lake\, a five-hectare man-made body of water anchoring this idyllic greenspace near the heart of urban Coquitlam. \nThe park is situated not far from Coquitlam Town Centre\, a well-known shopping destination and a hub of the city’s transportation system. The park can be reached easily via Skytrain. Simply take the Millennium Line to its terminus at Lafarge Lake-Douglas Station\, and from there it’s just a few steps to the Park. \nTown Centre Park is an ideal location for an outdoor festival\, and indeed it plays host to a number of major events each year. Fittingly\, it is also home to Percy Perry Stadium\, named in honour of long-serving Coquitlam community leader and Caribbean expatriate Percy Perry. \nCaribbean Days Festival is proud to make its long-awaited return with this debut event on July 23rd & 24th 2022 at Town Centre Park\, 1299 Pinetree Way in Coquitlam BC. \nCaribbean Days Festival is free to attend\, is open to all ages\, is wheelchair accessible and close to public transportation. Over the years\, the Festival has grown into the largest Caribbean event on the local calendar.
