The Hitsville USA Band is a hard driving revue that truly captures the sharp wardrobe\, polished style and the soulful sounds of the Motown artists who transformed rhythm and blues music. \nThe show features stellar vocalists Mike Henry and Janelle Reid backed up by a pumping band. \nMike Henry began his professional career in Las Vegas in the 80s and has performed at numerous major resorts and casinos including Bally’s Park Place (Atlantic City)\, Trump Castle (Reno/Tahoe) and the MGM Grand (Vegas). He has toured internationally aboard both the Viking and Color Cruise Lines in addition to performances in Taiwan\, Hong Kong\, Bangkok and Dubai. Mike is leader of a variety of other projects including his Ray Charles tribute show and a variety of R&B\, Funk and Reggae bands including Mostly Marley. \nJanelle Reid is a singer\, actor\, songwriter and mover. She has a BFA double major in music composition and theatre and has a second bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She enjoys singing in a variety of genres and collaborating with other vocal artists. She is always excited to take the opportunities given to share her passion of singing as a means to bring people together. La Mitchin di Mitchif is a new Indigenous contemporary dance work created through an international collaboration with Santa Fe’s Dancing Earth. Co-choreographed by Chartrand and Dancing Earth Artistic Director Rulan Tangen\, the work is inspired by cultural ancestral knowledge of Mitchif plant medicines. \nABOUT THE ARTISTS\nV’ni Dansi – which means “come and dance” in Mitchif\, a language of mixed French and Nehiyawak (Cree) origins – performs both contemporary and traditional dances\, aiming to honour the traditional aspects of Metis culture as well as to embrace innovations. Company dancers perform traditional Metis dance under the name of the Louis Riel Metis Dancers and contemporary dance works as V’ni Dansi. Established in 2001\, the Louis Riel Metis Dancers are a professional dance ensemble who perform traditional Metis dance. Led by Artistic Director Yvonne Chartrand\, the dancers offer a unique blend of European and First Nations dances accompanied by live musicians on fiddle and guitar. DESCRIPTION:The Walk is the largest annual fundraising event for the Alzheimer Society of B.C. and provides an opportunity for communities to take action to change the future for the over 85\,000 British Columbians living with dementia and the people who care for them. The event is also an opportunity for us to honour and remember the people in our lives who have been affected by Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia. \nFunds raised at the Walk will help provide programs and services for families on the dementia journey\, providing the support they need to maintain the best possible quality of life throughout the progression of their journey\, and enable critical research to change the future of the disease.
