DESCRIPTION:February 13 – 17\, 2024 | 7:30PM + 3PM Saturday \nABOUT THE SHOW\nEchoes from Far Away Cities explores how impunity\, silence\, stigma and shame keep domestic violence one of the most persistent and devastating global human rights violations today\, yet it remains underreported. SUMMARY:'Paths' Curator's Tour - Art Gallery at Evergreen Cultural Centre
DESCRIPTION:Join the AGE curator for a drop-in lunch time tour of “Paths”. This event is free to attend\, drop-ins welcome. \n“Paths” features artwork by twenty-two Canadian artists exploring paths\, both real and imagined\, through the mediums of painting\, drawing\, sculpture\, photography\, collage and printmaking. The exhibited works show us that a path can be used to communicate a direction\, a line of thought or a plan for action. Paths can also be seen in representations of the natural world\, taking the form of forest trails\, migratory patterns\, maps and waterways\, as well as within our built environment. We can find pathways through abstraction by exploring gesture\, pattern\, line and form and we can seek our own paths of understanding through personal journeys and the creative process.

SUMMARY:James Keelaghan & Jez Lowe - Evergreen Cultural Centre
DESCRIPTION:A chance-meeting at a folk festival almost thirty years ago has led to a musical collaboration between two singer-songwriters\, James Keelaghan from Canada and Jez Lowe from England\, that has seen them play to audiences around the globe\, from North America to Australia and to Europe\, and which continues to this day. \nEvery couple of years they each take a break from their busy solo careers to share stages and songs and inspire each other with their voices\, their wit and a friendship that lights up each performance. The pair share an Irish heritage that certainly informs their writing and brings with it an enthusiasm for boundary-breaking and story-telling in song that is both infectious and enthralling\, timeless and contemporary\, unpredictable and yet focused. In other words\, they surely and inevitably bring the best out of each other. \nTICKETS ON SALE!\nAdult: $37 | Senior: $34 | Student: $16\nBOX OFFICE: 604.927.6555 | Open Monday – Saturday\, 12PM – 5PM

SUMMARY:The Arrogant Worms - Evergreen Cultural Centre
DESCRIPTION:The Arrogant Worms have spent over three decades making fun of a big dumb world. Their songs have been played on the radio\, the internet\, and in outer space (on the space shuttle Endeavour). The Worms began at Queen’s University in 1991 when some members of the student cabaret group\, The Queen’s Players\, started writing songs and sketches for the campus radio station CFRC. Soon the group became The Arrogant Worms (Chris Patterson\, Mike McCormick\, and Trevor Strong) who have since toured ceaselessly across Canada (and select other parts of the world)\, released 13 albums\, and recorded with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. Their song\, The Last Saskatchewan Pirate\, has been covered by bands such as Captain Tractor and The Longest Johns\, and their Happy Happy birthday song is a viral sensation with over one hundred million views of the various fan videos on YouTube. More than thirty years after they began\, The Arrogant Worms continue to provide tuneful and silly escapism for everyone who needs it. \nTICKETS ON SALE!\nAdult: $37 | Senior: $34 | Student: $16\nBOX OFFICE: 604.927.6555 | Open Monday – Saturday\, 12PM – 5PM
