SUMMARY:World of Love Multicultural Carnival 2024
DESCRIPTION:The “World of Love” Multicultural Carnival celebrates the vibrant tapestry of global cultures by bringing together communities to share their unique heritage. August 24\, 2024 (Saturday) will see the third annual “World of Love” Multicultural Carnival.\n– This grand cultural festival will showcase the rich tapestry of cultures and cuisines from around the world\, aiming to enhance community cohesion and promote\nmulticultural integration through interactive experiences and exchanges.\n– On the day of the event\, participants will immerse themselves in vibrant cultural displays and culinary experiences\, savouring traditions and customs from various\ncountries. This year\, we are excited to encourage visitors to try on traditional Hanfu attire and inviting attendees to wear their own cultural garments.\n– The event will feature multiple interactive zones where visitors can engage in craft making\, food preparation demonstrations (e.g.\, teaching attendees how to make\ntraditional noodles)\, and trying on and photographing themselves in traditional multicultural costumes. Additionally\, we will recognize and reward the most influential social media posts\, further boosting interaction and connection among attendees.\n– This year’s event\, like its predecessors\, will once again shine with hundreds of colorful paper lanterns\, big and small\, known as intangible world heritage from the historic city of Nanjing in China.\n– Noodles of various flavours will debut at the event such as Chinese Chow Mein\, Italian pasta\, Japanese Ramen and Korean cold noodles\, with a magical chef demonstrating astonishingly how to make Chinese ramen\, namely\, extra long noodles that people eat in anticipation of longevity.\n– A bombshell at this year’s event\, if any\, will be a wonderful show of well-known face change. The player dressed in the ancient costume will display face-changing in a split second.

SUMMARY:Cindy Mochizuki: stories best told at twilight Tour & Opening Reception - Evergreen Cultural Centre Art Gallery
DESCRIPTION:This event is part of the 2024-25 Season Launch at Evergreen Cultural Centre. \nA tour with artist Cindy Mochizuki will begin at 4:30 pm\, followed by the opening reception for the exhibition from 5–7 pm. Light refreshments will be served. The tour will be approximately 30 minutes; remarks will take place at 6 pm. \nThis event is wheelchair accessible. Pay parking available on-site\, easy access from Lafarge Lake-Douglas Skytrain Station. \nAbout the Exhibition:\nSome stories are best told at twilight. As the sun sets below the horizon and darkness emerges\, the veil lifts between the everyday and the spirit realm. Supernatural creatures inhabit our world: haunting dreams and lullabies\, appearing in the pages of legends and recounted through the memories of elders. This magic manifests in the whimsical storytelling of artist Cindy Mochizuki. stories best told at twilight focuses on the artist’s telling of Japanese myths\, legends and folklore. Each artwork—which might manifest as a short animation\, an elaborate installation or a singular performance—is the result of an abundance of images and objects that came before. This solo exhibition goes behind the curtain\, taking a rare look at the artist’s usually hidden creative process and spanning artworks created over more than a decade.
