SUMMARY:Fraser Mills: Foundation of a Community - Mackin House
DESCRIPTION:The Ross McLaren Company began sawmill operations on the Fraser River in 1890\, beginning a company that was destined for economic ups and downs\, several name changes and numerous expansions. Commonly called Fraser Mills\, it was also the Canadian Western Lumber Company\, and until it closed\, the Crown Zellerbach Company. The mill employed labour from all over the world\, giving a start to many Sikh and Chinese families who contributed to the settling of Coquitlam\, and at one point employed large numbers of French Canadians who settled Maillardville. The mill brought in a multicultural population and also supplied the raw materials for many of the city’s buildings. It is an intrinsic part of Coquitlam’s foundation.

SUMMARY:Musical Matinées: Dancing with Eight Hands - Evergreen Cultural Centre
DESCRIPTION:The Canadian Piano Quartet is excited to be back this season with an energetic and entertaining programme centred on dance-inspired works. Latin-American music\, such as Lecuona’s Malagueña\, Tangos by Astor Piazzolla as well as Weber’s elegant Invitation to the Dance\, will be just some of the ‘fireworks’ for eight hands and forty fingers not to be missed! \nABOUT THE CANADIAN PIANO QUINTET\nThe Canadian Piano Quartet (CPQ) includes two of the music world’s best known married couple piano duos: Elizabeth and Marcel Bergmann (Duo Bergmann)\, Edward Turgeon and Anne Louise-Turgeon (the Duo Turgeon). Widely regarded as leaders of the multi-piano genre\, the duos have established fine reputations through concerts\, prizes captured at some in the world’s most prestigious duo piano competitions\, recordings\, broadcasts\, creation and premiere of new works as well as judging activities. Over the years\, the duos found themselves meeting up at different festivals in Canada and abroad\, each time enjoying friendship and a chance to celebrate the rich world of chamber music for four to eight hands. In 2018\, the duos decided to take things one step further\, creating the Canadian Piano Quartet. After the success of CPQ’s first concert in White Rock\, British Columbia\, it was decided that CPQ should hit the road! CPQ’s latest seasons includes concerts from coast to coast. The quartets’s repertoire includes works 2-8 hands and draws from a wide range of musical styles from the Baroque to Contemporary and includes many original arrangements. \nABOUT THE BERGMANN DUO\nThe Bergmann Duo’s dynamic and energetic performances of uniquely eclectic programmes\, which include numerous own arrangements and compositions\, have inspired audiences internationally. They have performed in concert and with orchestra worldwide.\nThe duo studied with Arie Vardi at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater\, Hannover and with Jean-Eudes Vaillancourt at the Université de Montréal. Elizabeth is Artistic Director of Concerts at the Langley Community Music School and both are Artistic Directors of White Rock Concerts.\n_________________________________________________________________________________\nSINGLE TICKETS ON SALE!\nAdults: $30 | Seniors: $26 | Students: $16\nEVERGREEN BOX OFFICE: 604-927-6555\nOpen Monday – Saturday | 12 – 5pm

SUMMARY:Ring of Fire - Evergreen Cultural Centre
DESCRIPTION:ABOUT THE SHOW\nFirst Impressions Theatre | by Richard Maltby Jr.\nThe ultimate celebration of the iconic Johnny Cash\, Ring of Fire tells the story of finding love\, success\, faith and redemption. Performed by a multi-talented multi instrumental cast featuring some of our finest musical artists\, this First Impressions Theatre production includes all of Cash’s classic hits: I Walk the Line\, A Boy Named Sue\, Folsom Prison Blues and many more! Ring of Fire is a powerful tribute to the Man in Black\, an endlessly entertaining journey that will leave you cheering for more!\nCreated by Richard Maltby\, Jr.\, conceived by William Meade\, adapted from the Broadway Production by Richard Maltby\, Jr. and Jason Edwards. \nABOUT FIRST IMPRESSIONS THEATRE\nFirst Impressions Theatre began in 1983 with a goal to provide a vehicle for serious actors to study their craft in a live performance setting. It has evolved over the years and has never lost sight of its role as a stepping stone for performers.\nIn 1992\, after five years of fund-raising\, it became a resident theatre company of the new Deep Cove Shaw Theatre. Having a home base\, the group has been able to attract a large loyal audience\, which in turn has made the group stronger and financially independent. The excellent reputation of First Impressions Theatre is spreading and its high quality productions with large audiences have made it one that experienced actors seek out.\nVancouver boasts a huge acting community due in part to the burgeoning movie industry. The actors involved in this industry hone their skills by participating in live theatre productions\, where they receive immediate uninfluenced feed-back from the audience. Valuable to professional experienced actors\, live theatre is also the ultimate tool for new actors to achieve experience\, build resumes and learn first hand all aspects of mounting a production.\n_________________________________________________________________________________\nSINGLE TICKETS ON SALE!\nAdults: $45 | Seniors: $38 | Students: $16\nEVERGREEN BOX OFFICE: 604-927-6555\nOpen Monday – Saturday | 12 – 5pm
