DESCRIPTION:Positively Petite is an annual exhibition unique to Place des Arts that showcases small artwork created by local artists. All two-dimensional artwork on exhibit is 30 square inches or smaller and all three-dimensional artwork is 60 cubic inches or smaller. \nThis year’s show features artworks in various mediums including painting\, ceramics\, fibre arts\, sculpture\, photography\, printmaking\, etching and mixed media from 38 local artists. \nThe pieces in this exhibition make unique gifts for the art lover on your list or those you want to introduce to the beautiful world of art. All purchases directly support cultural programming at Place des Arts and the exhibiting artists. \nArtwork sales begin at 7:00 PM on Friday\, November 17 in-person and by phone. Artwork cannot be reserved; sales are on a first-come\, first-served basis. Phone calls will be handled when not serving in-person customers. If making purchases by phone\, clients must be prepared with the artist’s name\, artwork number title and price. \nArtwork will remain on display for the first week of the exhibition to give visitors a chance to enjoy the exhibition in its entirety. Pick-up of sold artwork begins at 9:00 AM on Friday\, Nov 24 through to Thursday\, Dec 21 at 9:00 PM.

Their most recent collaboration with Cree composer Andrew Balfour\, NAGAMO\, seeks to forge a new path towards the decolonization of the choral arts. \nGrassroots beginnings took musica intima to international renown by pushing the boundaries of traditional choral performance and offering new perspectives on ensemble singing.  One of Canada’s most esteemed vocal ensembles\, musica intima’s shared leadership model allows the twelve members to exchange ideas freely and  explore their individual musical creativity. \nAs musica intima seeks to decolonize their musical practice\, they increasingly turn to collaborations with Indigenous artists from a variety of disciplines\, including choreographer Olivia C. The brilliantly talented Quiring Chamber Players\, Reg Quiring\, (viola) and Rosemary O’Connor (piano)\, return for their 15th annual New Year’s Eve celebration at Evergreen. \nThis concert sells out – grab your seats today! \nHost Reg Quiring has performed as principal violist of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra\, Quebec Symphony and Vancouver Symphony. He often performs as a soloist\, recitalist and chamber musician in concert and on CBC radio. As a chamber musician\, Reg has performed in the Vancouver Chamber Music Festival\, Vancouver New Music Ensemble\, Standing Wave Ensemble\, Vetta Chamber Players\, Turning Point Ensemble and Quiring Chamber Players. Reg and his wife\, Rosemary O’Connor\, are the Davidsbündler Duo and as such have recorded a CD of works for viola and piano and given concerts in many parts of British Columbia. He and his sister\, Angela Goddard\, founded and co-direct the Quiring Chamber Music Camp for young musicians\, now in its 18th year. Reg has served on the music faculty at UBC and the Vancouver Academy of Music\, and currently teaches at the Quiring Chamber Music School in Coquitlam. Reg studied violin with Lise Elson and viola with Donald McInnes at the University of Southern California\, and studied viola at the University of British Columbia with Gerald Stanick. Reg is the Artistic Director of the Coquitlam Youth orchestra at Evergreen Cultural Centre. \nPianist Rosemary O’Connor is an avid chamber musician who collaborates regularly with members of the VSO and Opera orchestras and co-produces at the Evergreen Cultural Centre’s Chamber Music Series. In this capacity she has performed with guest artists such as Ian Swensen\, Anita Krause\, Dale Barlthrop \, Francois Houle\, Andy Dawes\, Catherine French\, and members of the St. Lawrence Quartet. Rosemary has performed solo and chamber music concerts in the US\, Canada\, and Europe. Other concerts include Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York\, Music at the Vinyards in Napa Valley\, Pender Harbor\, Chintimini Chamber Music Festival in Oregon\, Sundays at 4 from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Rosemary currently teaches at the VSO School of Music and at her home studio in Coquitlam.
